A brief background

The airport is owned by Örebro Läns Flygplats AB and is an affiliate completely owned by Länstrafiken Örebro AB. The airport opened for airline service in 1979 and has since then continuously developed to meet an increasing demand.

In 1982 the first international scheduled airline service started. In 1995 the international destinations increased due to the establishment of chartered air services. Only a year later the first cargo aircraft took off from the airport and today cargo and charter flights are two very important components of Örebro Airport´s business.
